" Art that truly makes a statement..."
                               Biography
George Lenoir

George Brelie Lenoir Jr. was born October 7, 1971 in Birmingham, AL. Six years later his family moved to Atlanta, GA where his artistic abilities manifested. First in elementary school then later in high school. He attributes his pen and ink method to his high school art instructor, Steve Coffey. From this method was birthed two major pieces of artwork which ignited his desire to be a professional artist. George reminisces about his beginnings, "In the piece Exodus 14:13 Moses parting the Red Sea, I was leaving home. It was a liberating feeling, a freedom to be on my own. But it was also added pressure of having to take on responsibilities too. In the piece Exodus 3:6 The Burning Bush, it actually established a foundation in my relationship with Christ".

George's drawings are a reflection of his spiritual walk with Christ. Each piece symbolizes his relationship with Christ in that season. For example the aforementioned pieces were produced in black and white which symbolized how he saw his life, no color, no illumination. He states, "that this was a very painful time spiritually" he was transformed in the mind and learning who he was in Christ. Challenges were facing him to grow and let go of old emotional baggage. As opposed to his earlier work, as George grew spiritually, artistically he matured as well.

Other artist techniques began to peak his interest, such as Jasper Johns, where background becomes as important as the foreground or Jackson Pollock whose forte' is abstract painting techniques. Although George has been influenced by other artist techniques his themes are scripture based. "I want to relate the Bible to everyday life. I enjoy jazz, hip hop and other types of music. I also am a hopeless romantic. Anything to do with love and romance I am all for it. I want Christian art to be fun and balanced. In essence I want to portray the journey of a Christ filled walk in all its facets - from the mountain experiences, to the valley, to the in-between stages. This is what life or our journey is, isn't it? "

With the revelation George has added yet two more artist techniques to his repertoire, C Babi and LaShun Beal. C Babi takes a feature, hand, face, etc., and enlarge it. In George's new jazz pieces he utilizes this technique. The characters are playful and the ambiance reminds you to remember to enjoy life. "Geometric shapes, designs and vibrant colors that Lashun Beal uses are vital to my jazz collection and the new Jesus pieces. Moses represents the old me and my Jesus drawings are the new me." It is clear that George has grown spiritually and artistically. George's goal is to portray the Christian walk with its mountain highs, valley lows and in-betweens. In essence a "keep it real" balanced walk.               Lana Hooks - Word That Heal
